My older pressure washer gave up the ghost last week. After 9 years of regular use, so I figure i got my money’s worth out of it, having not spent much on it other than oil and gas. I began looking for a replacement. I had one of the first Generac washers from almost 20 years ago and had good luck with it, so began looking at this brand. I zeroed in on the 3100 psi/electric start washer cause my rotator cuff rattles when I pull a start cord now. I found one online at a great price (Safford Equipment) and it was delivered 3 days after ordering. It arrived in good shape, and since I had downloaded a copy of the manual, assembly went fast and easy. I liked the fact that no tools were needed for assembly.
This washer looks great! Nice that I didn’t have to go out and buy oil either. Very streamlined and well thought out, except for the fuel filler location. I had to remove the upper handle in order to fill the fuel tank. Not a real problem, since it has pushbutton locking buttons, but still….
After several hours of charging the included lithium battery, I installed it. Water hose and pressure hose installed, with water turned on at the faucet, I proceeded to start it up. Wow, 2 turns of the engine and it was running. Don’t be afraid if all of a sudden smoke starts coming out of the muffler, it was just getting burned out. 30 seconds and it had stopped.
I didn’t do a lot as this was just a shakedown, but I did spray down a couple of smokers that I had been working on, cleaning them for use. This Generac knocked off stuff that my old washer couldn’t do. Love the spray power settings available on the spray handle. I did a couple of other things, then shut it down. Impressed with it totally. The old Generac I had sported a triplex pump, and this has the common axial pump that I hope performs just as well as the old washer.
