Whether you’re moving a project car to the shop, hauling ATVs to the trail, or transporting equipment between jobsites, having a reliable car hauler makes the whole job a lot less complicated. The right trailer loads easily, tows predictably, and holds up to regular use without becoming a maintenance headache of its own. That’s why we carry car haulers in a range of sizes, styles, and weight ratings, so you can find something that fits what you’re pulling and how you’re pulling it.
The trailer that works great for a weekend hobbyist looks a lot different from one doing commercial work week in and week out. GVWR, deck length, ramp style, and frame construction all factor into how well a trailer performs under your conditions. Getting that match right from the start saves you from loading frustrations, towing headaches, and the cost of outgrowing a trailer sooner than you should.
What Our Car Hauler Selection Offers You
We carry car haulers from four trusted manufacturers: Caliber, Load Trail, Cynergy, and Aluma. They include open steel decks, enclosed car haulers for weather-protected transport, and aluminum car haulers for a lighter tow and longer-term durability. GVWRs range from 7,000 to 14,000 lbs with deck lengths up to 22 feet, so there's a fit for light-duty weekend use or heavier commercial hauling.
Common features and options include:
Open deck designs in 7K and 10K GVWR ratings from Caliber
Load Trail steel car haulers in 7K, 10K, and 14K with fold ramps, slide ramps, max ramps, or split ramps
Drive-over fender option on select 14K Load Trail models for wider vehicles
Cynergy enclosed trailers in 8.5' wide configurations: 16' and 24' lengths, up to 10K GVWR
Aluma aluminum tilt trailers with rust-free construction and a 5-year warranty
Pressure-treated pine or extruded aluminum flooring, depending on the model
LED lighting, molded wiring harness, and a 7-way plug are standard on most models
Dual electric brake axles on 10K+ models
Tie-down loops, stake pockets, and breakaway cables standard on applicable models
Why Folks Count on Safford for Car Haulers and More
A car hauler is the kind of purchase you want to get right the first time. Buy too light, and you're stressing the trailer. Buy too heavy, and you're dragging more weight than you need to. We carry brands that have earned their reputations through consistent build quality, and we take the time to understand what you're hauling before pointing you toward a certain model. Open or enclosed, aluminum or steel, tilt deck or ramps, those are decisions that affect how much you enjoy using the trailer every time you hook up. Our team will help you sort through it without any pressure, and we'll always steer you toward the best solution for your situation.

FAQs: Car Haulers
Here are answers to some of the most common questions we hear about car haulers.
What's the difference between fold ramps, slide ramps, and a tilt deck?
Fold ramps hinge up and store flat against the back of the trailer. They're the most common and work well for most loading situations. Slide ramps tuck under the deck and pull out when you need them, keeping the rear of the trailer cleaner and more accessible. A tilt deck, like on the Load Trail Rapid Loader, eliminates ramps entirely. The whole deck tips down to ground level for loading, which is ideal for low-clearance vehicles or anything that doesn't load well off ramps.
What's the advantage of an enclosed car hauler over an open deck?
Enclosed car haulers protect your vehicle from road debris, weather, and prying eyes during transport, which matters a lot when you're moving something valuable or a show-quality vehicle. The Cynergy enclosed trailers in our lineup are 8.5' wide and available in 16' and 24' lengths at up to 10K GVWR. The trade-off is that enclosed trailers weigh more, cost more, and are harder to maneuver in tight spaces compared to open decks.
Why would I choose an aluminum car hauler over a steel one?
Aluminum car haulers are lighter than comparable steel trailers, which means more of your truck's towing capacity goes toward the actual payload rather than the trailer itself. Aluminum also doesn't rust, which matters in wet climates or if the trailer will sit outside regularly. The trade-off is a higher upfront cost compared to steel.
Do I need electric brakes on a car hauler?
Most states require trailer brakes when the loaded trailer weight exceeds a certain threshold, typically 3,000 lbs, though it varies by state. Our 10K and 14K car haulers come equipped with dual electric brake axles. Even where not legally required, brakes on a loaded trailer improve stopping performance and reduce wear on your tow vehicle.
